New curriculum introduced at hancock high school
Thanks to a generous grant from Valley Health in Winchester, Virginia, we were able to purchase simulator dolls and introduce a new curriculum which has been shown to prevent child abuse. The curriculum will cover many life skills, including-but not limited to- anger management and time management techniques that students can take with them through their lives. Such skills are shown to decrease incidences of child abuse later in life, as well as other societal problems like drug addiction and teen pregnancy.
Training and continued education courses for first responders
First responders also benefit from continued training to help them recognize and respond to child abuse when they see it. We are initiating programs to keep local first responders up to date with the most current information related to child abuse identification, treatment, and follow-up.
